Wargaming is proud to be taking part in an educational mission through sponsoring the 2015 reunion of actors from Band of Brothers – the influential, Second World War historical drama made by HBO. The purpose of the reunion is to benefit the World War II Foundation – a non-profit organisation whose mission is to preserve the stories of that great generation through making documentary films, amongst other projects.
As title sponsor, Wargaming will be with the stars every step of the way as they tour three of Normandy’s most important historical sites and museums in recognition of the 70th anniversary of the end of WWII.
From 5 to 7 June, the reunion will visit the Overlord Omaha Beach Museum, the Utah Beach Museum and the Richard D. Winters Leadership Monument in Sainte-Marie-du-Mont, Normandy, France. All events are open to the public. Information and tickets are available through the website of the World War II Foundation.
Social outreach and the ongoing preservation of military history is of the utmost importance to Wargaming. The company’s partnership with the World War II Foundation is not the first. Other global projects include the sponsoring of USS Iowa, the recovery of the world’s last remaining Dornier Do 17, and the Wargaming Education Centre at the Tank Museum at Bovington, UK. As Wargaming’s titles focus on aspects of both World Wars, it is important that the company help preserve exhibits of historical significance all across the world.
War History Online, one of the world’s leading providers of online military information pertaining to the 20th century, will also join Wargaming in support of the Normandy events this June.
