Guess Where

Commanders,

It is time for the new session of the Guess Where contest, in which we ask you to show off your eye for the detail by identifying both the tank and the map where it is located.

The prize system has changed, giving you more chances to win! Read onwards to learn more, and follow the link to take part.

The next session of the contest will begin on Tuesday, December 5^th at 18:30 CET (17:30 GMT) and will last for 4 days. As usual, the contest picture will be posted in the dedicated forum.

Your task is to figure out the name of the map and the location (A1, B4, etc.), as well as the name of the vehicle shown in the masked picture. You also will have to explain your answer with a short sentence.

Rules :

When you are sure you know the square of the map this picture is from and the vehicle it shows, send us your answer guesswhere@wargaming.net with the subject line of “Guess Where " (in English) and your in-game name.

Feel free to write your explanation text in your native language, but please make sure you send it to the correct e-mail address with the correct subject line or your entry not will be accepted! Note: Only entries submitted in one of the six officially supported languages (EN, DE, FR, ES, PL or CZ) will be eligible for winning.
Only one entry per player is allowed
After receiving the first two correct answers, we will pick two correct entries that feature the best description of how you were able to guess the tank, map and location. These will be rewarded as shown below.
If you are unable to find the right answer on the first day, don’t worry! We will reveal a little more of the picture on each of the following days. But greater information comes with a price. The reward you will receive will reduce the more days it takes to uncover the secret.

After receiving the first two correct answers, we will pick two correct entries that feature the best description of how you were able to guess the tank, map and location. These will be rewarded as follows:

Note: The new winners (those who send the best explanation for their guesses) are only selected once we have the first two winners. For example, if the two correct answers come on the Wednesday, the new winners will be start being picked on Wednesday, so there will be two winners of 500 gold and four winners of 250 gold (two on Thursday and two on Friday).

Last Week’s Winners

Thank you all for participating in the previous Guess Where Contest. Many of you took part in this contest by trying to find out not only the name of the map, but also the exact coordinates and the tank hidden in the picture. Check out the full picture without the mask below:

This time it was the American tier V medium tank M4A2E4 at the coordinates C2 of the map Siegfried Line that was hidden behind the mask.

Some clues you could have used to identify it were:

First the hints for the tank:

The typical American camo pattern is visible which means it has to be one of the American vehicles.
What was visible on the screen was: some tools behind the turret, element of the turret as well as the gun, element of the side of the hull and two wheels. All these elements could tell you of the proportions of the tank, that is medium size and most likely is one of the variants of the Sherman tank.
Finally, you could see a tiny element of the skirts and check the size of the wheels that match only one tank: the M4A2E4 Sherman and this is the correct answer.

Secondly, the hints for the map and location:

You could see parts of the field with a distinct structure that is an antitank obstacle. It`s typical for one map – the Siegfried Line so this is how you could check the map.
You could check the location by the following: location of the Dragon`s Teeth and part of the bunker visible on the screen show it`s a location just near one of the bunkers.
By checking the part of the bunker, the trees and dragon`s teeth visible on the screen you could find out the location is C2.

Previous week's winners

And here as promised the winners of our previous Guess Where session from two weeks ago.

It was the British Tier III Light Tank: A13 Mk. II Cruiser Tank Mk. IV, which was located in the D2 sector on the Airfield map.

Some clues you could have used to identify it were:

First the hints for the tank:

You could initially see just few fragments of the tank. The light camouflage was a hint showing it is most likely a British tank. This narrows the guess already.
One of the wheels with a part of track was visible, as well as elements of the exhaust system and the rear of the turret. All these elements put together are typical for A13 Mk II Cruiser Tank Mk IV and this was the correct answer.

Secondly, the hints for the map and location:

When it comes to the map, you could see some palm trees, which already shows that the map in question must be one of the few desert maps.
You can see elements of a wooden tower as well as a depot with barrels. These two features come together on the Airfield map.
When you compare the relative position of the tower, the trees and the barrels you can confirm that the position is D2 on Airfield map.
